  • Hear about locals customs at a traditional Dominican home
  • See the grounds of a sleepy country plantation bursting with local produce
  • Savor infamous Dominican cacao (chocolate), in its organic state, and harvested from the surrounding fertile lands
  • Smell the aroma of rich Caribbean coffee, ground from the finest beans in Punta Cana’s Cordillera Oriental Mountain Range
  • Touch carefully cultivated Dominican tobacco leaves, World-Renowned for their robust flavor and rivaled only by their Cuban counterpart

This is the BEST the Dominican Republic has to offer so don’t just touch and smell! Purchase whatever you want to take home and relive the experience!

Sound interesting so far? If so, great! If not, no worries because we’re just getting started. Have we mentioned you also??

  • Visit a local elementary school to better understand the country’s public education system
  • Transverse the 500-year-old city of Higuey, the capital city of the eastern La Altagracia province of the Dominican Republic. Higuey, meaning “Land of the Rising Sun” in Arawak was once controlled by a large Taino Indian kingdom who were eventually decimated by Spanish conquistadors
  • Enter the Basilica, a Roman Catholic cathedral housing the 500+ year old painting of the Altagracia Virgen brought by Spanish missionaries. The cathedral’s importance was solidified with Pope John Paul II’s visit in 1992
  • LUNCH!! Yes, a traditional, home-cooked buffet of rice and beans, meat, salad, plantains, sweets and coffee – enjoyed in rustic country surroundings. The way it should be.

But we’re still not done! We’ve saved the best for last!

Macao Beach is one of the most sought-after coastlines in Punta Cana. Macao’s amber sands and azure waters attract beach goers and surfers alike. Only locals know Macao’s value as a prime destination for fresh fish and lazy Sunday afternoons with friends.

Now it’s time for YOU to enjoy Macao like a local! An hour’s time will give you a chance to wade in the Caribbean Ocean, recline on the beach’s soft sands or people watch while refreshments are served.

Talk about ending the day on a high note!

There is a short stop at the Basilica in Higuey. To enter, women and men must be covered to the elbows and knees. The tour makes a stop at a local school; sometimes, visitors choose to bring helpful donations. This should never be money, but instead school supplies like pens, pencils, notebooks, backpacks, clothing, etc. There are no children on Saturdays and Sundays or major holidays but the tour still visits the school.

We took the country tour on Monday 12th March 2018 and it was way more than we could have ever expected…our tour guide Alex was very pleasant and funny and ensured that we were comfortable and safe…we did so many exciting things like visit the cocoa and coffee estate, zip lining horse back riding and not to mention lunch….omg…mouth watering…this tour is a must do for anyone visiting punta cana…you get to see a side of the island that you would not normally be exposed too…its worth way more than we paid for it

Went to punta cana sept30-oct 10. I have booked several times with Punta Cana Tours, and never had a problem. The pricing is very reasonable and I was excited to see I could pay via PayPal upfront. It’s great getting to the resort in a air-conditioned vehicle, with a friendly courteous member from Punta Cana Tours. Plus arrived to the resort before the bus load and got to stay an extra hour at the resort on departure day because we didn’t have to stop anywhere to pick people up! Book with confidence, you won’t regret it.

Sandro was an extremely knowledgeable and entertaining tour guide. Very impressive tour. If you want to learn something about the Dominican Republic’s history and way of life, he is the man! Thank you very much!

I contacted the owner of Punta Cana Tours, Thomas Murray, several months before our group trip to Punta Cana to arrange a Super Truck Safari. Thomas repiled to my original email promtply and did so with the many questions that followed. We were a group of 32, and filled one of the big trucks on April 23rd, 2022. As scheduled, they picked us up at our hotel at 8:00 am. Milton was our guide, and I can tell you that he is the absolute best there is!! I have been on several Jeep Safaris, but hands down this one rated the highest in customer service, itinerary, knowledgable staff, driver, bartender and food. Each of the 32 in our group had a fabulous time, and will talk about our experience with Punta Cana Tours for many years to come. Thank you Thomas and Milton for making our Adventure Trick Safari a “dream” come true!! I will be certain to contact you again for another excursion with your company. All the best! Regards, Niki and the gang.

This was an excellent experience. My wife and I really enjoyed our excursion. The staff were very friendly and wasn’t pushy or overbearing. They provided everything we needed and were very informative when it came to details during the tour. I’m glad we had the truck with the big tires because the roads got a little bumpy and rough. I’ll never forget this experience because it shows you the real Dominican Republic and that’s what I wanted to experience. The good, the bad, and the ugly. Not just from the luxuries of the resort. Excellent!

We got picked up from our hotel and met up with a larger group of tourists. The guys in the big truck drove us into the country side and showed us different villages. We stopped at a small house that was a typical Dominican abode. They gave us some fresh ground cocoa to taste, fresh brewed coffee (fresh off the coffee tree), and other Dominican goods. We visited the Basílica Catedral Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia. It is the church that is on the 50 peso bill. We had lunch at a ranch and ended our day at the beach. Overall, the tour guides are nice and funny. Their English isn’t perfect, but intelligible. It was a great experience. As always, beware of people wanting money. This was one of our favorite excursions in the Dominican Republic.

If you are interested in understanding the lives of the majority of the Dominicans, driving through their villages and countryside is a great way to get a feel of it. Along the way you’ll see: more villagers riding small mopeds, scooters and motorcycles than cars on the roads; many unfinished abandoned building skeletons, “real” speed bumps that will take your undercarriage out when approaching a village in the place of traffic lights; great numbers of single young men hanging out in the village and; a countryside missing the ambiance views of the Dominican beaches. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly.

The road up was extremely bumpy and I dont know how he was able to get us to the site but man was that fun! The zipline itself was quick but I still had a blast! Manuel our tour guide taught us all about the cocoa bean and the coffee bean and even hooked us up with some Dominican chocolate! Best chocolate i have ever tasted! Another thing I would highly recommend doing while down in the D.R.

  9. Shaniya (verified purchase)

This was one of the greatest excursions I’ve been on in any country! The tour through the town was amazing and our tour guide Wilson aka “Pinky” absolutely made this trip awesome! He went above and beyond to make sure that everyone had a wonderful time! I would recommend this trip to anyone! Lots of fun!
